Riders in Sutton Park this morning.
We decided to have an earlier walk this morning, as rain was forecast later before lunch.
It was fairly sunny and mild when we set off with clouds coming in from the West.
We began from the Bistro car park and did the usual circular, which I always enjoy, loving trees.
Autumn colours are now very evident. As we were on the approach back to the Bistro, these two riders were passing by, one on a beautiful horse and the other on a lovely pony.
Finishing our coffee we could see people preparing for a spot of rain, hoods went up and lightweight walking jackets donned.
In the end it was just a sprinkling.
One of the photos I took is in extras. You could think you were on a beach when looking at it. The whole of the footpaths, which criss cross the 2,400 acre park are covered in lots of places by pebbles and stones.
There are metalled roads too from the main entrances, to car parks, and then they crisscross the Park.
We were using part of one this morning and there were two young mums with 5 very young children between them taking a walk. The children were using a combination of two pedal bikes, a scooter and a balance bike. Each of them with a cycle helmet. The youngest one looked about 3 years old. Good to see them out in the fresh air having some exercise.
They were certainly enjoying their rides!
Anyway to come back to the pebbles…I quote:
.”Sutton Park has been directly impacted by glaciation, with evidence of glacial drift from ice sheets that advanced into the West Midlands during the Pleistocene period. The solid geology beneath the park, which includes features like the Hopwas Breccia and Bunter Beds, is overlain by this glacial deposit.”
It is really fascinating Geology..
I must finish here as I am off for my Annual checkup at the dentist shortly.
And very much hoping we do have some more rain!
