Leading the way home

Ziggy trotting out in front on our way home at the end of our walk late this afternoon. The maize is getting really tall.
We must have had every road surfacing vehicle in Devon parked up along our lane from about 8 am to at least 3pm today. About 5 times now in 2 months, they've been going to resurface the smaller lane down the side of our house. Today really looked like it was going to happen. The number of lorries and vans was well into 2 figures with 2 or 3 men per vehicle. When I spoke to some of the workmen on my early morning walk they said they were waiting to see if it was going ahead but it was doubtful. Evidently because of the rain overnight, it was now too wet. When I drove past mid afternoon it didn't look as though the vehicles had moved at all. However when I walked Ziggy back down the lane after our walk it was all loose gravel which stuck to his paws and to my boots. I hope they will return to finish the road surface tomorrow. The weather will probably be too hot then!!
