"The Skull Is Nature's Sculpture"*

A fox, that I had noticed was ailing, died by the southerly boiler house on 2nd June 2023, not long after Mish came to live with us. We passed its body every day on our walks and watched it gradually decompose. On 31st October 2023 I photographed its skeleton. There was no sign of its skull.

While I was photographing willow emerald damselflies this afternoon by the boiler house I found what I am sure is its skull. Sort of strange and weirdly comforting to see the skull of an animal that I had met when it was alive.
