Lakeside Aquarium

Another expedition today! We took the steam train from Haverthwaite to Lakeside, and then visited the aquarium. The children were interested in the steam engine, but maybe not as awestruck as we expected! The aquarium was very busy, as you might expect in Bank Holiday week, but we had a good look around. The piranha fish were big! The tunnel was wonderful, and we completed the quiz questions as we went round.
Ice cream was the reward, then a picnic on the train going back.
We had a great thunderstorm as we got home, quite unusual for here, but no power outage so Toy Story was a good wind down.
We have all enjoyed our days together, tomorrow we travel down to mum and dad, pausing to meet Great Uncle David on the way. He has never met these two greats, and is really looking forward to seeing them in the flesh. He is the family genealogist and has had them on his lists, but somehow their paths haven’t crossed before now.
All is quiet here tonight, I think we are all exhausted!
