Spot the stranger
has been a 'carnival week' activity that happens on the High Street for as long as I can remember. Shops display a sign indicating they are taking part and place something in the window that you wouldn't usually see there. Participants pay for entry and get a sheet of paper listing all the venues and then visit them all, find the item and write what it is on the sheet. Most correct spots wins. Some of the strangers are very imaginative and some very obvious. I explained the concept to Yvonne on our walk and my surprise at discovering that the carnival is scheduled for first week of October. That is unusual and also when I have travel plans although I haven't attended for many years. Brick club is taking part at the current location. We spotted what looked like the hilt of a plastic sword, partially buried in the bricks at the front of the window. At the new location, most recently a tearoom/cafe (serendipity/benaz), there was a surprise feline stranger
Later on our walk, the light and space at the Prom was a delight. It was great to catch up with Yvonne. A courtyard lunch with Nat was also welcome respite from what felt like an unproductive work day.
