If you can't beat them...

Ornamental Cabbage

Wednesday so it must be coffee and cake!  Today it was Dobbies at Orton Grange Carlisle.  One day sometime in the future we will be able to use our usual route, but for now there are so many road closures owing to the Carlisle southern by-pass that cross country is the best option.

Technically all Brassicas e.g. Cabbage, Brussel Sprouts, and Kale have a single ancestor, wild cabbage Brassica oleracea.  These have obviously been bred purely for ornament.  They are edible when young but have, I am told a strong flavour.
