Around the Block

Sections!

The day had four main sections; work, market, beach and bossa!

All but the work are captured above.  For those interested, the container ship that crossed the bay this morning (Potka Pusaka, built in Hong Kong in 2019) was at the end of a 23-day voyage from Singapore, and was due to spend a day docked in Rio before moving onto Santos, Montevideo and Buenos Aires in the next eight to ten days.   She is 330m long and 48m wide and weighs 113,000 tons and due to an optical illusion gave the impression that she would go aground on the rocks at the end of the bay!

We saw Dilma Oliveira at the Bottle Bar in the 9pm concert.  She is in the top league of voices in the samba and bossa nova world.  Now in her seventies, she only came to fame just after her fiftieth birthday when she won the Brazilian ‘Voice’.   It was a wonderful and rich time with her, ending in a sing-a-long with the audience in the intimate space.
