At the Town Hall

Luckily, while I was waiting to go into a concert at the Town Hall this evening , I took a photo of this old "calling stone" . 

 I was queuing to see a "paired down" jazz version of Porgy and Bess.  The only photo I took of the concert is,  frankly,  terrible so the stone will have to do.

Used for "proclamations" for 300 years when it stood in the market square. I can imagine the Town Crier standing on it shouting O Yay, O Yay, O Yay . Apparently old  French for "listen here"
