Tossing Out
It will take eons for me to totally weed out my craft room, but I did make some more headway today.
After hearing from fellow blippers encouraging me to toss more freely, I did. I went back to the memorabilia bins - which I had thought I had already weeded out - and got ruthless. Out went all my career documents, letters from friends and students, photos, greeting cards, and postcards from the past, but first, I read through them and then, as one blipper had suggested, I took photos of the more meaningful or interesting, unusual things, (extra) (I did keep family correspondences though as my daughter may want to have those later)
Then I turned to other things - excess card-making paper supplies, picture frames, and in the process of digging into the past, found some fun things too....
I had forgotten about a "painting" I had done in a week-long watercolour workshop with the author of one of my painting books. Most of my attempts at painting are hidden away in a couple of portfolios, but this one was too big and it got shoved to the back and underneath a lot of other things in a cupboard....
Well, that brought back memories... of that workshop but also of the people in it - I ended up over the years spending many watercolour vacations in France with one of them. This particular assignment was not a creation of mine, but one of those exercises where the instructor walks you through the process step-by step and also, along the way, introduces you to a variety of fun techniques you might like to use in the future. (extra) I have no idea what I will do with it now, but I just couldn't toss it..not yet!
Tomorrow I hope to continue in the craft room....and I also hope to finally get to visit Donna, a good friend who has been in hospital now for a month but up to this point has not been receiving visitors. Noreen and I are to visit her tomorrow afternoon - unless some test or event causes her to cancel. We are really worried about her; information about her progress has been so vague.....
