Winchester library

I went to Winchester today with Pauline to have a look at the exhibition in the gallery space of Winchester library on working women in Jane Austen’s novels. It focused on women in working roles who are incidental characters in her stories, such as maids, cooks, shop workers, milliners etc. it was a really interesting exhibition. Pauline’s a bit of a Jane Austen expert as she has been leading walking tours in Southampton on Jane Austen for Southampton Tourist Board. So she was really interested to learn things from a different angle. Of course coffee and lunch were also involved :-) my blip is the centre of the library.
