Lady pool lizard

The weather forecast told us that it would be raining by lunchtime, so soon after breakfast we set off on the tandem for our dip at Carnish. The swim itself was delayed because I unexpectedly spotted my gym friend Jennifer in the window of a holiday cottage on our way there!

Mary - another gym friend - had told me before we came away that she thought that one of the other aquafit ladies was coming here for her summer holiday. However, she couldn't remember the name of the person in question. Mary tried to describe her to me, but 'Short grey hair and a black swimming costume' applies to just about anyone in the aquafit class. However, as soon as I saw Jennifer this morning, I knew that she must be the mystery woman.

Jennifer and her husband Charles invited us into their holiday cottage for tea/coffee and we had a lovely catch-up before Mr hazelh and I eventually headed to the beach. When we were there, I thought it high time that I posed for a pool lizard shot, so here it is! We swam only briefly because some of the waves at Carnish today were rather big and there was also a nasty undertow.

We raced back to base after our swim so that there was time to shower and change (in Mr hazelh's case) and walk up the road to the community café. A few days ago I noticed on Facebook that one of my former external work colleagues was on holiday in the Outer Hebrides, so we arranged to meet for lunch today. It was wonderful to see Neil, his wife Caron, and their dog Misty.

On the way back from the café we decided that we really should photograph the sea eagles that we have seen every day of our holiday here. I have posted one of our sea eagle shots as an extra.

We have played another game of Scrabble which - inevitably - I lost. The series score is now Mr hazelh - 8, hazelh -3.

We're still waiting for the forecast rain to make its appearance...

Exercise today: 9 mile tandem ride; small amount of walking.
