Denton Tomb Hereford Cathedral

Anne Denton an only child died aged just short of her 19th birthday. Her swaddled baby lies at her side half covered by Anne’s shawl. Although her husband is depicted beside her he is buried alongside his second wife in Hillesdon. That wife too died in childbirth aged 17 though her son survived only to become an orphanages 2 when his father died aged just 34. Life was perilous in Tudor times.
