DOUBLE RAINBOW

I drove down towards the dunes in a fairly fierce downpour this afternoon and was rewarded by this double rainbow a few minutes later. It would have taken me another five or ten minutes to walk to the other side of the dunes for an uninterrupted view by which time it would have disappeared, but I thought this was pretty good.

I'd pulled in a couple of hundred yards further back to watch some pheasants and spotted a bedraggled young curlew caught in the rain (extra). I don't know precisely whether it's an immature bird or not but I think it has the somewhat unfinished look of a youngster.
