Getting ready

The office flower and crafts show is tomorrow. Strictly speaking the “former office” show. Retired people are still involved, though we have to go through security controls and be escorted everywhere in the office buildings!

So today was full on preparation, cutting flowers, tidying up the veg and so on. Then into the office to set up the tables and get as much as possible on display as the judging starts at 11 in the morning. Nowadays the office effectively shuts at 7pm so no chance to potter as in previous years until late in the evening.

Despite the warm dry spring and hot summer I still have some produce to enter, though much of what would normally be shown has passed its best. I have just enough respectable onions to enter; no significant sign of carrot root fly ( they looked much better when cleaned up as the dark patches are soil); but no sweet pea left at all this year.

Still it should be a good event. I just have to bake the lemon and sultana scones for the baking section.
