Restoration
It’s turned out nice again today- sunny and warm although I did think there was a touch of autumn in the air as I explored the progress of dismantling the paraphernalia of the Fringe in my neighbourhood. Maybe it was the lower angle of the sun or just the lack of summer tourists.
The circus Hub in the Meadows is gone, the Book Festival village is reduced to a pile of ‘stuff’, George Square is clear of all the eating stalls, the wire fencing covered in event advertising has been dismantled and work is under way to rid the lovely George Square Gardens of the ugly UnderBelly structures. I marvelled at two huge pantechnicons with props from the Gardens swaying over the cobbles along George Square as they made their way out of the one way system.
During my walk I found this blip of a little rustic corner of flats just off the busy Buccleuch Street.
I spent time this morning brushing the patio clean of fallen leaves . At the moment it’s mainly the patio Acer that’s the early shedder but from now on until winter the hard to get to corners under the bench and garden chairs will be the collecting points for so many leaves blown in from the Meadow’s trees. It’s a never ending chore.
I was rewarded with a bottle of wine by a grateful neighbour for rescuing a parcel left at their front door whilst they were away in holiday. Wine not Gin you will note. That should even up the contents of the drinks cupboard somewhat. On the subject of drink, if it’s Friday, it’s a TGIF libation at the Marriott with the neighbours. Sláinte!
