First Time Inside…

…the new hospital around the corner from us. Opened earlier this year, after eight years being built (and costing 300 million Euros), this building replaces our old hospital from the 1980es, which was full of memories for me - from planting the roof garden back when I worked as a gardener in 1984, to my first ever hospital stay for my appendectomy in 2023. 

The new one is still bare of memories, and pretty bare altogether. I briefly visited Frau G there today, in a big, empty room next to the ward’s ‚caféteria’ - all completely sterile, with steel and plastic furniture and not a single picture on the walls  Easy to keep clean, and utterly cheerless.
