There is no free Hot Spot WiFi as far as I can find in the Black Isle. There is 3G connection in some places for the I-phone, but the Blipfoto fails to upload. Too bad!
Today was spent in a pilgrimage to John o' Groats, following in the wheel steps of his Lordship who completed his solo epic Land's End to John O' Groats cycle run in May this year. This time we went by car from Cromarty, picking up the route at Tore.He delighted in pointing out his rest stops and pit stops en route and giving a commentary on the rain and wind patterns at the time, not to mention the hills.
I was well impresed with the latter, especially the Berriedale Braes and was so relieved that I had declined his kind invitation to cycle the End to End with him.
Can you believe that the record time taken for the 1000 odd miles is 2 hours short of 2 days, ie 46 hours. You do the maths! Bearing in mind that the train from Wick to Inverness takes 3 hours, the train from Inverness to Edinburgh takes 3 hours and the cross country train from Edinburgh to Penzance takes 11 hours and then there is a 10 mile trip to Land's End, the record is almost unbelievable.
