Sunflower

Had a much better night's sleep (after a couple that were disturbed by my back). Back much improved. Made sure to make it a courtesy visit to the allotment though, and not carry anything heavy either there or back!

The previous blip of the solitary, bird-sown sunflower was this - it's opened at last! Everything else seems to think that it's autumn. Loads of berries on rowans and the like - I do hope that the locals will leave some for the waxwings but I doubt it. I harvested one of the squashes, which seemed ripe. SInce its variety is a complete mystery (it has developed neither warts nor stripes), I can't consult the seed catalogues!
