The slippery slope of power
They say that power corrupts. I guess that everybody has known that for quite a long time now.
At the behest of the Alberta gov't, the Edmonton school board came up with a list of 200 books to be removed from school shelves. This on the premise that they were not "age appropriate."
The Handmaids Tale, The Colour Purple, The Great Gatsby are among the books on the list. Given Alberta's nickname of Texas North it doesn't surprise me one iota that many of the books are LGBTQ+ friendly.
It also makes me wonder who read all 200 of them to make this decision, or perhaps a less than unbiased faction was involved.
It's a long weekend. Monday is Labour Day.
I haven't done any labour today and I certainly won't be doing any on Monday.
And those who picked #3 can enjoy 3 extra breaths.
Ah well...
