Andy and Ruth
Up early for - oh yes, a coffee in Mother and a proper trip to the new West Kirby Bookshop. Let’s just say money exchanged hands, books were bought and I’m going to need to re-mortgage sooner rather than later with the new shop on my doorstep.
Then a 100 mile trip to Long Eaton to see my people, Andy and Ruth. More gig friends who became real friends / chosen family many (many) years ago. These are the friends who gave me shelter when I was homeless in my 20s, who were my bubble in the pandemic despite being 100 miles away and made sure I was never alone for any of the many divorce hearings I had in 2020. They hired vans and travelled up with furniture from their own house so that The Bo and I didn’t move into an empty house in December the same year. They are also The Bo’s unofficial aunt and uncle, and were the ”best people” for RM’s and my wedding. Every second we are here will be a joy - we don’t get together often enough but we do try to plan as many shenanigans together as possible. Life is short and we need to spend it with our people. We’ve thus far drunk tea, been to the pub for beer abd toasties and now we are onto the pink cocktails, which I’m reliably informed are a Viennese Spritz. A barbecue is planned for 19.42, despite the rain. Wish me luck for the head in the morning…
