And Then There Were Five..

I dropped by the library today to pick up my two books on hold, only to discover that there were three more! Those librarians must have been working hard to get things moving in time for the long weekend? It will take an uneventful holiday at the cottage for me to have time to get through all 5!

Shawn arrived first thing this morning to plant the perennials I had picked up and we had time to chat about some of my ideas and also what he has in mind for the fall. He intends to split some of the overgrown hostas and replant them to help even out the borders, fill in holes and allow the large fancier ones to have a spot  where they can stand out more. We took down the bird feeder pole - which I will miss - but I realize it is contributing to the rat problem in the neighbourhood; the space it had occupied provided a good spot (with room to grow) for the hibiscus. Not sure what the answer is about the rats...but for now, it is not wise to attract them with food!

I went out for lunch today with my two neighbours Diane and Elaine. We don't get together as much as we used to, but then our situations have changed over the years. Diane is now full time caregiver of her husband and Elaine, although to a lesser extent, also has caregiver responsibilities with her husband. It isn't easy scheduling around their commitments, so this was a treat to have all three of us in one place at the same time!

PS: Unfortunately. for Noreen and me, plans to visit our friend Donna in hospital had to be canceled. She was just not up for visitors again. Our plan is for tomorrow...fingers crossed.
