Walking the Dreamtime!
Today is the anniversary of Maria Montessori's birth - 31st August 1870 - so I thought it would be a good reason to blip the cover of one of her books - as a Montessori Nursery Education Tutor was my last job before retiring I had quite a few of her books, but unfortunately none remain on my shelves - I probably gave them away to students! However, I did find one that she would've enjoyed and which I've read several times over the years - it's the story of two children aged 14 and 11years marooned in the Outback of Australia and how they shared the difficulties with a tribe of Aborigines - it was published in 1970 so perhaps she read it! There are lots of You Tube videos about her style of education if you are interested. Her view was 'Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us (adults) by reason of their innocence and of the their future' - Her translation of this view into early education made her world famous even today:)
