Devil’s Bit Scabious
TT and I were up early. Packing was finished, then the car was packed. We were ready to leave at 07:30, and so we headed west to Troon, to catch the ferry to Arran. Amazingly our friends pulled into the ferry queue immediately behind us. We were all feeling a bit weary, but were all looking forward to a week away. It was a lovely morning and L offered round his homemade chocolate praline to keep us going. Not what I would normally eat st that time in the morning, but I am on my holidays!!
We were on the new, and long-awaited Glen Sannox ferry. It was very nice, though seems to have less outside areas than the Caledonian Isles. We all had breakfast rolls from the cafe, then mostly stood outside. The crossing was very smooth, though takes longer from Troon than it used to take from Ardrossan.
On arriving in Arran, we stopped at the Co-op and stocked up on provisions, before heading over to Blackwaterfoot to our house for the week. The house is in R&L’s extended family, they usually get the use of it for one or two weeks every year, so we are very lucky to be able to join them.
Once we had unpacked and settled in, R &L went off to play golf, C sat in the garden with her book, and TT and I walked along the beach to Drumadoon, then back round by the golf course, before walking out the other side of the village.
We all met back at the house later for drinks, and L and TT cooked up a feast for tea. We were all quite weary, probably due to our early starts, and we all had early nights.
This is devil’s bit scabious, which is in full bloom around the edge of the golf course, alongside a number of other flowers including tormentil, yarrow and hare bells. All very pretty.
