Halfway There

Interestingly the side of the moon that is visible tonight is the area where 4 Apollo flights landed. The two larger darker areas are The Sea of Serenity and underneath the Sea of Tranquility and it's in this vicinity that the lunar landings took place.
The first landing on the moon was by Apollo 11 in July 1969 and I remember being glued to the television watching it. It was horrifying when visiting Kennedy Space Center to see just how tiny and basic the Lunar Module Eagle, which touched down on July 20th was and I think they were incredibly brave men.
The other landings on the bright side here were Apollo 15, 16 and finally 17 which was the last manned space flight to land there.
