We Are Not Able To Not Speak!
That is the literal translation in English of what Peter and John said in Greek to those who arrested and questioned them after the lame man was healed. More about that later. My weather app has been promising rain showers all day, but aside from the few drops on our truck's windshield, we've gotten nothing measurable here. We are under a flood watch, so somebody must be getting rain somewhere. That said, we gathered at FBC to worship and praise God as we trust Him to meet our needs. We began our service with a congregational song followed by a time of greeting those around us. Pastor Wes welcomed the congregation as he reminded us that though this is a holiday weekend for many of us, God never takes a holiday and He is always available to us. The choir, orchestra and the rest of our talented accompanists then presented an anthem affirming the eternal power and majesty of God, entitled "Ancient Of Days". The congregation joined in a few more songs, before Pastor Wes took us into Acts 4:1-21, to speak to us through the experiences of Peter and John about the possible outcome and consequences of doing what God has given us to do as His people in this world, all the way from the early believers down through the ages and extending to us. We have to be open to opportunities to tell those around us about what He has done in our lives, trust Him to give us the right words through the Holy Spirit in us,no matter how inadequate we might feel and regardless of the result. Pastor Wes had much more to say about all this and I would encourage you to watch the Live-stream as he closes the sermon with a touching, encouraging experience from his own life......
