The Ulverston "Lighthouse"

Its real name is the Sir John Barrow monument and it was built in 1850.  It is 100ft (30.5m) tall and is constructed from local limestone quarried from the nearby Birkrigg Common.  Although it is modelled on the Eddystone Lighthouse it has never had a lamp nor played any part in maritime navigation.

I needed to visit a shop in Barrow, this morning, and called in at Booths in Ulverston on my return journey.  This picture is taken from Booths car park.
