Dramatic weather at WWT Barnes

My twin grandchildren stayed overnight, they slept well but woke early as they do for school days. They were quietly reading but I awoke too so an earlier get up than usual!

After a leisurely breakfast and letting them watch some TV which is a rare treat for them we went to the WWT at Barnes in time for the otter feeding at 1100. Despite the weather forecast of showers it was lovely and sunny and they also went on the new water part of the children’s adventure playground having taken swimsuits. There are lots of fountains and sprays activated by standing on certain switch in the ground. However  after that we had a violent storm so needed our raincoats and they sheltered  in one of the play tunnels for about 15 minutes.
We went to several of the hides and saw quite a few birds.

After this we went back for their regular Monday swimming lesson, the first of the term. They start their school term tomorrow.

This view is from the main viewing area near the entrance. There is a good view of certain iconic London buildings eg Harrods furniture depository building at Hammersmith nearby, the Shard, Post Office tower and also the revamped Fulham Football ground.

Quite a tiring but very enjoyable day a they are so good and get on well with each other…long may it last!
