The Last Rose of Summer?
A solitary pink rose in the front garden of No.21 Malling Street, Lewes: a wonderful early 19th century listed building on what is now the 'quiet part' of Malling Street, the section that has long been bypassed since the opening of the Cuilfail Tunnel in December 1980.
One of today's 'Extras' shows the gleaming front of another listed building nearby, No.8 Malling Street, "Timber-framed and clad in black glazed mathematical tiles with white mathematical tiled dressings", while the other depicts the familiar view downstream on the Sussex Ouse from the bridge on Cliffe High Street.
