In one of the little sunny intervals today

In my blip of 3rd August I seriously maligned these beans. 
I apologize.
A couple of the hens are not up to scratch. Ten hens and only 8 eggs this morning. An improvement on yesterday I suppose as we only had 6, with an additional one being broken in the coop before I collected. Looks like omelets for tea.
Unlike all our previous rescue hens these guys don't seem to know how to feed. I have always used layers pellets with no trouble but these guys just ignore them. I spoke to the pet shop lady today and she has had this problem previously. Evidently one method of raising chickens commercially uses a liquid porridge type of feed to give both food and drink. She suggested copying this but gradually making the mix thicker until they will eat pellets. It seems to have worked this afternoon, a lot more fiddly work but hopefully they will soon be "normal"
