Double take

My old eyes! I was startled by this ‘snake’ this morning, only to realise that it’s a hair tie. 

Despite years of country walking I’ve only ever seen two snakes in the UK, a grass snake that slithered over my legs during a picnic, and an adder surprised on the southwest coastal path. I guess they are very shy creatures.
