Echinops
Today's the day ........................ to be irresistible
I know that to some folk, thistles are often looked upon as a prickly problem, but I willingly grow quite a few in my garden.
Knapweeds and cornflowers are close cousins of the thistle family - and I have a very soft spot for the above globe thistle or echinops - that I have deliberately planted in my new perennial border. I find them completely irresistible - especially when they start to come into flower and they have their little mob caps on. And I'm not alone because they are always a favourite with the bees too.
And as for the glorious Cirsium rivulare in extras, no garden is complete without one. I'd grow them for the colour alone ...........................
