Sally Mair - Loving life

faces in the sand...

Well actually on the pavement. I came across this this afternoon while on my way to do my surfing in the charity shop. To me it looked just like a Star Wars Storm Trooper. It's actually a gray drinks carrier - rather a squashed one.
Thank you for all the good wishes yesterday, it was a wonderful service, over 120 in church. The service was conducted by the Primus (who happened to be in Edinburgh already) as the Bishop of Edinburgh retired last Sunday. Janet had come from Moray, Ross Caithness Diocese when she started her training five years ago so it was rather appropriate .
It was a wonderfully positive service, representatives from several denominations including our 3 Syrian orthodox groups. The hymns were to well known tunes so the rafters were raised .
I don't think that when my new Rector thanked me and told me I should have a holiday that she was trying to get rid of me..... I don't think that's what she meant in any case, lol.
Today has been busy as ever though. I cleared my walk-in cupboard of china before breakfast this morning as my SMART meters were being replaced. It's amazing what an effect a Government ruling saying that if they aren't fixed timeously, the energy companies would have to pay a penalty for each day they didn't work, has had. Legislation takes effect from next year. We've been waiting 2 years and it's nearer 3 years since the gas one worked
Next I visited K, a friend who is having a tough time just now and didn't made it to the service last night as she wasn't well.
I raced back home afterwards in time for the meter replacer and got there with 5 minutes to spare. She was on time. The meters are changed, the electric usage is showing up fine on the home display unit, the gas readings have yet to show up on it. Fingers crossed.
We went out to Côte this evening, I had a special offer so long as we both had salmon with a Bearnais sauce. Fortunately that's one of my favourites.
When I got home I remembered that I hadn't finished writing the thank you letters to the officials and non-congregation members who had helped so much during the vacancy not to mention the running and planning of the service last night. I finished typing them up, printed them out, signed them and put them into hand written envelopes, my posh ones with tissue paper linings. Stamps are now on and the letters are ready to post.
I didn't forget to thank my fellow congregation members, they got an email first thing this morning.
All of which means that exhausted as I am, it's twenty past midnight and I'm blipping! Ah well.
