Lunch!
It wasn't a good start to the day - it was raining and very blustery, I lost one of my favourite Lululemon socks in the washing, and Adam and Anna left. The latter was especially sad as we will only see them again just after Christmas, and I was feeling very flat when they left. Gavin and I had planned to play golf with a friend this afternoon to cheer me up, but then he phoned to say his wife has Covid so it was best not to see us.... But things can always get better, I found my sock stuck to the inside of the washing machine drum, Adam and Anna texted to say the flight was very empty so they could spread out and sleep so I could stop worrying about how tired Adam will be for work tomorrow, and it stopped raining...for a while.
Last night the performance of Evita was outstanding. It was a rock opera rather than a musical, so it was loud, vibrant and such a high-energy show with superb singing and dazzling dancing and choreography. Rachel Zegler who plays Eva Peron was staggering, she is so tiny with such a powerful voice and her dancing was flawless. The boys tell me she was not that good in the remake of Snow White which was a flop of a movie, but after this show her success will surely be guaranteed. She sings the famous 'Don't Cry for me Argentina' from an outdoor balcony on to the crowds waiting outside the theatre, while it is relayed back on screen to the audience in the theatre. It was a full house in the theatre last night, and the audience were very responsive whooping and applauding after each big number. The press had said this was the best show of the year so it's not surprising that the theatre was full. And we were delighted to see Tom Hiddleston and his pregnant partner Zawe Ashton in the audience a few rows in front of us - Luke, Adam and Anna were so chuffed to see him as they highly rate him as an actor. Unfortunately the show ends this week, and it is fully sold out, but if it ever returns for a rerun I can highly recommend it.
With the rain coming and going all day it has been a quiet day at home, I tidied up and washed the bedding and towels from Adam's room. I also started thinking about what I am going to pack as after booking 2.5 years ago (yes that long!) we are finally going to South Luangwa in Zambia next week on a photography workshop (the workshops get booked up years in advance as the pro photographer only takes a few people). Gavin is joining me but I am not sure if he will be taking photos. It's all long lenses and heavy equipment so I have to pack carefully, but we have already had a zoom meeting with the pro photographer discussing what to take.
