Not quite Arthur Daley
I don't think we could have picked a worse day for a 240 mile round trip to pick up our new (one year old) car. The rain as we left home was torrential, so much that we couldn't do much more than 30 miles per hour, with flooding across the road and very little visibility. After we'd collected the new car it was even worse, with a violent thunderstorm and bright lightning flashes. The salesman had taken us to the local petrol station to fuel the car and after we dropped him off we just parked up and waited for the storm to pass.
But to the collection; I have to say it was quite an experience, in a good way. The salesman and tech guy were really friendly and helpful and whilst they had things they tried to sell us, they weren't pushy. We went through all the formalities and once done we were walked down to the end of the showroom where we came across this behind a screen! Quite a theatrical experience which was fun; apparently some people like to film the unveiling but we didn't go that far. Then a session with the tech guy pairing our phones with the car and being shown all that it can do. At that stage it felt as though we would need a degree in computer science to be able to operate it, but I'm sure that given a bit of time to sit and play with it we will find everything out.
A good, if wet, journey back home; I couldn't get the cruise control to be adaptive to the traffic ahead but I'm sure that's just a setting in a menu somewhere. Something to play with tomorrow.
