Kids stop play

Today was meant to be the start of our new tenpin bowling season. As it was the first Wednesday of the month we were set to play  in Guildford. We thought the school term had started but the Spectrum centre - which houses an ice rink and swimming pool as well as a bowling alley - was rammed full with parents and their children. The children looked like they were primary school age and it seemed that their schools were starting term with inset days for the teaching staff. So, with no prospect of a lane becoming free any time soon, we retreated to the cafe at Guildford Cathedral. That was mercifully quiet, so I was able to have a great chat and enjoyable lunch with S and G.  The start of the season rolls forward then  to next Wednesday, again at Guildford,  when we may well be the only people playing at lunchtime if past experience is anything to go by. One fact I came away with, courtesy of S, is that Guildford Cathedral was one of the settings that featured in the film, The Omen, which  I've never seen as I'm not a great fan of horror films.
