The Illuminated Crowd

A crowd has gathered, facing a light, an illumination
brought about by a fire, an event, an ideology - or an
ideal. The strong light casts shadows, and as the
light moves toward the back and diminishes, the
mood degenerates; rowdiness, disorder and violence
occur, showing the fragile nature of man. Illumination,
hope, involvement, hilarity, irritation, fear, illness,
violence, murder and death - the flow of man's emotion
through space.

Right now, in Montréal, there is a partial strike on public transportation services. So this morning, going to the meeting, I picked up a woman on the side of the street who had a little sign about the strike. Nothing fascinating you'll say. But wait. She was going to the Régie du logement (the Régie du logement is a specialized tribunal that has competence in residential lease matters). Four and a half years ago, something happened with her neighbor, she didn't say what. It took one and a half years to have her first audition and on that day, one important witness just couldn't make it. So it was postponed.... for THREE YEARS. Today was her second audition and she was hoping for the best. Life in the city... Amazing.

I had a very nice supper with Phil tonight. It had been a while since that happened. I'm looking forward some golf together this summer.

Edit
I forgot to tell you last night. Part of the next Brad Pitt movie is being shot here in old Montréal beginning today. They want to make it look like Paris and Moscow in the winter. Snow has been ordered and was being delivered today. Good luck with that... It was 35C today and same tomorrow, a record temperature for a May 24th.
