Living my dream

By Mima

Happy happy me

I woke smiling this morning. Not only was it relatively warm (+5C at dawn), but light was peeping around the edges of the bedroom curtains, and the compost was due to arrive at 11am.

Which it duly did.

Here is Compost Donald dropping the 8 cubic metres onto the tarp on the drive. He missed slightly, but I let him off...the edges  will be shovelled away and onto the beds first anyway.

There are two people in the village all set to collect 1 cubic metre each, which gives me a bit of money back and saves them having to drive trailers into town to collect it. (It costs $80 per 1m cube.)

It is beautiful stuff: dark dark brown and full of goodness. Shovelling and barrowing will punctuate my days for a while. There are plenty of places where the compost is needed. I have made a start moving some onto the squash bed and into the sweetpea troughs.

It really feels like spring today. Not only was there no frost, but it was sunny all day and reached 21C. T-shirt weather. Bean loves it.
