Wind over the lake

The day began with sunshine, but by late afternoon the skies were dark and leaves whirled about, signaling, perhaps, the onset of some nasty weather.

I pulled to the side of the road to have a better look at the lake and these boats perched out of its reach . The water had become a fish-scale gray as the wind gained strength and edged its way across, creasing the skin of the lake into folds that collapsed into the smooth pebbles where I stood.

The water's fine.
