Carrapatelo lock

A day on the river Douro - out from Porto to Regua with breakfast and lunch on board. Hugely enjoyable, took tons of photos: this was one of my favourite moments, going through the highest lock in Europe. The engineering is amazing; boat rising quite fast. Villages, vineyards, herons and more to see as we went by - and plenty of people-watching to pass the time too, especially when the upper deck dancing started!
So sad this morning to hear of the Gloria funicular disaster in Lisbon.
