Peewit

Surprised to see such colours on the Lapwing this late in the summer.

The Lapwing is described as "a common breeding summer visitor and breeding migrant, and fairly common winter visitor"

Definitely don't see so many nowadays but there are good numbers with young in the fields in the village at the moment. Whether they are all local birds or summer migrants coming from the north I don't know. Fewer about in the winter although I do seem them quite often.
