While on my runs

Heading into central city at Britomart

After three days driving to work, I went back to travelling by train. After everyone whose trip ended at Grafton Station was out the train powered down. Which meant that I was able to climb the stairs from the platform to Park Road, and get this photo of the train (having powered up again) heading on into the central city.

The Minister of Health has told reporters that he intends to bring in legislation to ban health care workers (mainly nurses and doctors) from being political.

First the coalition Government has foreshadowed their intention to disenfranchise potentially hundreds of thousands Citizens by stopping late enrolment. No one will be allowed to vote who has not enrolled by two weeks before election day. Their justification? it delays the counting of votes, as late enrolees need to have their enrolment approved which can take a week or so. In the large majority of electorates the result is clear. BUT special votes generally favour the left, and this is a very blatant denial of civil rights to the Government's opposition.

News media have largely ignored that proposal, and are almost certainly going to ignore this attempt to deny one group of workers the right to take an active part in the opposition to the coalition.

If this is not fascism, what is it?
