Corner window

One of the reasons why I love Blipfoto is that I learn about other people’s lives through their images and their journals. I’ve always been curious about other people’s lives. I see them passing by in their cars, or I see their windows; and I wonder what matters to them, how they live, who or what they love, what they’re afraid of, how their lives are going for them.

I don’t know whose window this is on my One Street, but it reminds me of my student days. I might as well say my whole life--I was a student for 20 years after I finished high school, and then I taught and published research till I retired. I never stacked my books in a window (that wrecks the books) but I did have stacks and stacks of books, mostly in brick-and-board bookcases. I loved reading and then talking about what I read, writing about what I read. Loved asking a question, assembling a heap of books related to the question, finding (perhaps) an answer, or at  least a theory, and writing about it. I still do.

Today is Karen Berry’s birthday (NannaK). We were regular commenters on each other’s journals, and her husband, bless him, has kept hers going. She would have been 85 today. She also wanted to know about other people’s lives, she also loved books. Now she’s part of everybody’s everything.
