Busy Day

Still back-blipping...

The weather  has made the transition to cold and windy. No more swimming for now. There was a somewhat colourful sunset though (extra) and a wonderful but fleeting moonlit evening - which lasted about as long as it took me to take a few photos and then...it was gone! 

My daughter and SIL had gone home later in the day,  but before that, they had some cottage issues to deal with - not at our cottage but at my brother's. They do whatever they can to help him out when things go wrong. One of the support beams for his deck was sinking and had to be replaced, so they came to his rescue! His cottage is old like ours...and time wreaks havoc on old decks and docks. He replaced the docking system in front of his place (extra) but now it is time for the deck. This will be an interim fix. 

Major work on our cottage will begin in a couple of weeks too; the exterior front of our cottage and its windows will be replaced due to the ravages of time on wood. I am not looking forward to the chaos, but these things have to be done - and in season while we are using it , especially in boat-access-only cottages! Over-the-winter repairs are not an option here! 

My photo-taking of birds has begun again (extra), but I missed the best photo-op of all time....the loon I had been watching from afar earlier, came right up to the dock to do its grooming and fishing while my SIL was working on his boat..He had his phone with him and recorded a full minute of the action!  What a catch!

It was sad to see my daughter and SIL leave today, but my sister will be joining me for a few days as of tomorrow, so I won't be totally alone until next week.
