Model
I was rummaging around the garden at lunch time, looking for something to photograph and failing to spot anything more interesting than a Field Grasshopper, and I'd just about decided that I was going to have to dislodge something out of its roost before the promised downpour arrived, when this beautiful female Southern Hawker flew slowly past me and gently settled on a spent buddleja flower. She could hardly have been more helpful if she'd been a professional model, but unlike them I had to assume that she didn't relish the close attention I was giving her - so as soon as I had a few clear images I thanked her very politely and walked away, leaving her in peace. When I went back into the garden after the rain had finished she was gone, so it turned out to have been another of those "right place, right time" situations.
If you have the time to view this full-screen, you'll be able to experience the full glory of those multicoloured eyes.
