Formidable

Today I've been looking for a subject fitting in with the word 'formidable'. You'll want to know why, it's because I'm so impressed with Belgian musician Stromae's new song "Formidable". It's Belgium's no 1 right now and the video is fascinating, at least I think so. Getting curious? Find it here ! Just in case you want to know beforehand what you're going to see, the song is sung from the point of view of a young man whose relationship has just ended the night before and he is a little worse for wear, standing in the middle of Brussels , early morning while all around him people are going to work. Stromae went to Art School and did Film courses, the whole video is made with hidden cameras. He's well known in Belgium, so it's interesting to see the people, including the police, react to this celeb who's not his usual self.

The only thing I could find in the house remotely related to formidability is this little statue which rests on my late grandmother's Friesian wall clock, the usual decoration on top flanked by two angels with trumpets for these kind of clocks. The statue represents Atlas, the Titan from Greek mythology who had to carry the celestial sphere (note: not Earth!) on his shoulders as punishment. You can see this sphere has the moon and the stars on it ! His punishment and his power were certainly formidable. Enjoy !

PS The background of the picture is another example of French Kiss Textures, this one is called Jazz
