That bit of white

A perfect Channel crossing - sunshine, calm sea and a very quiet ship. We have made this crossing so many, many times and I never tire of it.

I could have taken a photo from the deck without the blurry window, but I wanted to invoke the idea of my sitting watching the waves, reading my book and feeling fortunate that I have a passport and money and support and can do this crossing as often as I like with no problem and knowing I have a home to go to when we reach those white cliffs.

I am not making a dangerous crossing in an open boat, desperately escaping untold horrors and hoping for asylum in a safe (and welcoming!) country.
