Testing, Testing..

After all the heavy rain it was much brighter today so we went for a walk in the country park and forest at Brandon to enjoy the sandy, well-drained paths. My secondary aim was to try out my newly acquired wide-angle lens - it's a modest 17 -28mm, but I haven't used anything wider than 24mm (or the equivalent on a cropped-sensor camera) before. It was a good area to use as the walk included the walled garden and the closely-confined mausoleum in the country park, plus the open heathland and forest further south. The Blip shows part of the heath, which is being conserved as typical Breckland heathland within a cleared section of forest. OK, the heather's almost over and the light wasn't the best to show it off, but I was reasonably happy with the composition of this one - except that it's actually at 24mm, so a width that I'm already comfortable with. The downside of only taking the one lens was that there was a humming-bird hawkmoth working the flowers in the walled garden, but absolutely no way that I could zoom in to take it!!
