Clyde Puffer

Made my way through the Great Glen to see Neptune's Staircase at the west end of the Caledonian Canal. Got a little muddled and found myself at the Corpach sea lock which had its gates open to admit VIC32, one of the old Clyde Puffers. It's not completely old as it has one of those funny 2D patterns for scanning painted on part of the superstructure. It's coming in from Loch Linnhe. Neptune' Staircase proper climbs up 20 metre in a series of 8 locks with marvellous views over to Ben Nevis.
On the way back stopped at the Commando Memorial just past Spean Bridge which again has terrific views. What I found rather more moving was the close-by circle which has more personal tributes to many commandos of all conflicts including Afghanistan.
