LILY OF THE INCAS
This long blooming perennial is known by most gardeners as
ASTROEMERIA, but it is also called Peruvian Lily or Lily of the Incas.
Although, not in the Lily family, it "symbolizes friendship, devotion & mutual support. Its upside-down leaves represent the twists & turns of life & relationships, while the numerous blooms, on one stem, can symbolize strong bonds." (Google)
I always thought it was too fragile to grow here, with our hot summers & windy winters; but I saw these bright pink flowers in a neighbor's
front garden.
