The Pensioner

rire aux éclats

A most delightful day toodling down the small roads on the south side of the St Lawrence. At Saint-Denis De La Bouteillerie we stopped for coffee. Honestly it was like rural France - the patron brought out his home made apple crumble to go with our cafe au lait. And various chatty locals rolled in for their petits déjeuners; and like the French everywhere they’re all so very friendly. He even took our photo when he caught me attempting un selfee.
Onward to.. the Musée maritime du Québec! Imagine that - our route luckily passed its front door. I won’t attempt to summarise all the delights therein.
So, to Quebec and a very funky hotel in a very cool neighbourhood as I’m sure you can imagine. Montcalm. After a beer on the rooftop we were off to dive into the restaurants on Rue Cartier with the SK’s best French (she was an au pair in Brussels in a much earlier life) proving most useful. Jest joking, she’s very good.
